DDD_Silver_Logo_1“Ding” Darling Days annually celebrates National Wildlife Refuge Week and the birthday of Jay Norwood “Ding” Darling, the refuge’s namesake and father of the Federal Duck Stamp Program.  Birding, boating, nature photography workshops, and tram and kayak tours fill the week with environmental activities for all ages.

The week-long celebration kicks off on Sunday, October 19th, with Free Family Fun Day – don’t miss the Endangered Species & Wildlife life-size puppets presentation, featuring Heather Henson, daughter of late Muppets creator, Jim Henson.  The festival ends Saturday, October 25th, with Conservation Art Day, where Federal Duck Stamp Winners, artists and cartoonists, and a refuge photography tram tour will highlight a day devoted to J. N. Darling’s legacy as the first duck stamp artist and Pulitzer Prize-winning political cartoonist.
